Living just up the street from Bistro One Eleven has allowed me to keep an eye on the progress of this new restaurant from Phillip Johnson. We were originally booked in for opening night on the 1st of September, but were called to say that a delay due to construction had occurred. Oh well, these things happen.
I used to love E'cco but had thought that it was starting to get left behind with all of the fantastic restaurants that have opened up in Brisbane over the last few years, so was a little curious about the food at Bistro One Eleven.
I need not have worried, the food on offer tonight was elegant and very tasty. For starters I had the whiting, very dainty but packed a punch. My wife had the risotto, also tasty but could have done with a few more minutes cooking. Both dishes were well presented and just big enough to whet our appetite for mains.
Main for me was the chicken, with pesto, peas and bacon. Really well cooked and delicious, with an amazing aroma. As good as my main was, I admit to having some food envy when my wife's lamb turned up. Lovely and so tender.
There was a fairly limited, but lovely looking desert menu. For desert we chose the donuts and chocolate marquise, both very good and great to finish off the meal
Being the 3rd night, there were many more wait staff than customers, so we had fantastic service, will be interesting to see how it goes when 80 people are all there at the same time. Its a great space in the new 111 Eagle Street and fits right in with some of the other great restaurants in the strip
There is no doubt that we will be back :)
